In 2013, four companies started the Automotive Engineering Tool Alliance “AETA RICE”. The abbreviation AE refers to Automotive Engineering and Automotive Electronics.

The Wikipedia definition of Automotive Engineering is:
“Modern automotive engineering, along with aerospace engineering and marine engineering, is a branch of vehicle engineering, incorporating elements of mechanical, electrical, electronic, software and safety engineering as applied to the design, manufacture and operation of motorcycles, automobiles, buses and trucks and their respective engineering subsystems.”

The ASAM Association for Standardization of Automation and Measuring Systems defines Automotive Electronics as:
“Automotive Electronics (AE) is a group of ASAM standards, which defines interfaces and data structures for the automotive electronics development and test processes.”

Four companies intend to operate globally in an alliance, and within the framework of a legally binding agreement, to create a Tool Alliance (TA) of vendors of state-of-the-art tools for Automotive Electronics development which are based strictly on standards for measurement, diagnostics and calibration standards from ISO, ASAM and SAE.

The four companies forming the AETA RICE alliance are RA Consulting GmbH, Intrepid Control Systems Inc., CarMedialab GmbH and emotive GmbH & Co. KG.
